Registering or transferring a domain name to Sitebite
Don’t have your own domain yet, or is your domain with a provider you want to move away from? Below you’ll find how to register a new domain name, or transfer an existing one, and then connect it to your Sitebite website.
Registering a new domain name
- Choose a short, easy-to-remember name that suits your business. Avoid hyphens and tricky spellings.
- Check availability with a provider such as GoDaddy, Namecheap or your local registrar.
- Register the domain (and immediately the .com/.eu variant too if you want to reserve it).
- Then connect it to Sitebite via the DNS settings.
Transferring an existing domain to another provider
Want to move a domain that’s already registered elsewhere, for example because your old web builder manages the registration? That’s called a transfer.
- Request the authorisation code (EPP code) from your current provider.
- Make sure the domain isn’t locked (turn off transfer lock at the current provider).
- Start the transfer at the new provider using the authorisation code.
- Confirm the transfer, usually via an email sent to the registered contact address.
- A transfer usually takes a few days to a week. Your website stays reachable as normal during this process.
A transfer isn’t mandatory, by the way: you can also simply leave a domain with the current provider and only adjust the DNS settings to connect it to Sitebite.

Can I have multiple domains point to the same site?
Yes, for example a .com and .co.uk variant. Set up the second domain with the same DNS settings, and have it redirect to your main domain to avoid duplicate content.
Do I lose my email during a transfer?
No, as long as you carry over the associated MX records at the new provider, your email keeps working as normal.
