Connecting Hotjar to your restaurant website for more insight
Numbers tell you what’s happening on your site, but not why. With Hotjar you see through heatmaps and recordings how visitors really use your website, so you can improve in a targeted way.
What Hotjar shows you
- Heatmaps: where people click and how far they scroll.
- Session recordings: how a visitor moves through your site, as if you’re watching over their shoulder.
- Friction points: where guests drop off, scroll back, or get stuck.
How to connect Hotjar
- Open Hotjar under Integrations.
- Enter your Hotjar Site ID.
- Save. Hotjar starts measuring.
Example: where does it get stuck?
You notice in Analytics that many visitors view your menu page, but few click through to book. A heatmap then shows you that the booking button only sits at the bottom of the page, well below the fold. The session recordings confirm it: visitors scroll down to the button, but some drop off before reaching it. Moving that button higher up is then a small change with a directly measurable effect on your bookings.
What you use it for
- See whether guests actually find your booking or ordering button.
- Discover where visitors leave a page, for example halfway through the menu.
- Test whether a new layout or copy actually works better, by comparing before and after.
Note: cookies and consent
